Merriam Corporation, carrying on business as technologyWise, respects the privacy of clients, prospective clients, students, website visitors, and other people who communicate with us. technologyWise Academy is an educational service operated through technologyWise.
Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, and other contact information;
- messages, inquiries, appointment and scheduling information;
- for Academy clients, student name, approximate educational level, school or course information, learning goals, lesson preferences, attendance information, and work or materials voluntarily shared for tutoring;
- accessibility, emergency, arrival, departure, pickup, or safety information supplied when relevant to safe participation;
- billing, invoice, transaction, and payment-status information;
- communications preferences, including text-message consent choices; and
- ordinary web-server information used for security and operation, such as request time, requested page, IP address, and browser or user-agent information.
How we collect and use information
We collect information directly through website forms, email, telephone or text communications, registration documents, bookings, lessons, invoices, payments, and other direct interactions. We use it to respond to inquiries, arrange and provide services, support student learning, maintain records, administer billing, support accessibility and safety arrangements, secure our systems, and meet legal, accounting, insurance, and regulatory obligations.
Service providers and disclosure
We may use service providers for website and form hosting, scheduling and calendar services, payment processing, telecommunications and SMS delivery, email, data storage, and other business operations. We limit information made available to a service provider to what is reasonably required for the service it performs. We may also disclose information where law authorizes or requires disclosure, or where a safety, security, insurance, or legal matter reasonably requires it.
Customer data is not shared with 3rd parties for promotional or marketing purposes.
Mobile opt-in and consent are never shared with anyone for any purpose. Any information sharing that may be mentioned elsewhere in this policy excludes mobile opt-in data.
Text messaging
When you expressly choose to receive informational text messages, technologyWise may use the mobile number you provide to respond to your questions or provide information relevant to your relationship with us. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for assistance. Text messaging is optional and is not a condition of purchase. Payment information
Where a third-party payment processor handles a card payment, the processor receives the card information required to process the transaction. technologyWise receives the resulting transaction, invoice, and payment-status information needed for our records. We use hosted or processor-managed payment tools so our ordinary website does not need to collect full payment-card credentials.
Academy students and minors
For a prospective student under 18, we ask a parent or guardian to act as the primary registration contact. We collect student information that is reasonably useful for arranging and providing tutoring, and emergency or safety information when the circumstances call for it. We encourage families to provide only information relevant to the service or the student's safe participation.
Video surveillance at the Academy
The technologyWise Academy tutoring room uses disclosed video-only security surveillance with audio recording disabled. The Academy maintains a separate Video Surveillance Policy describing its purposes, access controls, retention, and request procedures. Ordinary recordings are retained for seven days unless a specific incident, access request, insurance matter, legal matter, or lawful authority request reasonably requires longer preservation.
Retention and safeguards
We keep personal information for as long as reasonably required for the purposes for which we collected it and for applicable legal, accounting, security, or business requirements. We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature and sensitivity of the information.
Your choices and access
You may ask questions about our privacy practices, request access to or correction of personal information we hold about you, or withdraw an optional consent, subject to applicable legal and contractual requirements. You may withdraw SMS consent at any time by replying STOP.
